May is upon us and so is the International Cannes Film Festival 2015 and with it lots of new up and coming filmmaker who are battling their way up to get their films to earn the prestigious Palm Du Our.

Bloody Luck

Among them the filmmaker Antonio Chavez Trejo has something to say and a strong voice to be heard considering the fact this is the second year he will try to claim that price. This time with his film Bloody Luck.

Moving aside from his comfort zone the director decided to take a risk at a different approach on his usual stories betting this time on a female empowering story he wrote with Ragnhild Bjoerge (Norwegian actress) who plays Lucy, the main character of the film.

Lucy represents oppressed women all around the world both physically and emotionally, but what Bloody Luck is really about is traumas and overcoming them.

In recent times the word "feminism" has been cause of intense debate since most feminist loop up for women supremacy instead of human equity. The speech behind Bloody Luck explores a different approach on the word feminism; both Chavez Trejo and Bjoerge wrote a film thinking about self power and control and this is what make this film worth watching and keeping an eye on it´s path through the film circuit.

Lucy is a cop trainee who lives with her abusive boyfriend who constantly hits on her. She will develop a very specific reaction when she sees blood due to this constant abuse which will end up putting her on the spotlight where she will have to overcome her personal traumas for her own good and the people she cares about.

Interesting enough the film was shoot with a crew where most of the people on set were women. This brought a very specific attention to detail as it was intended according to the Mexican director.

"Getting into the mind of a woman is something practically imposible; so much things are happening in there at all times and beauty emerges in the form of a personality through this "caos", this is the way Bloody Luck was written; I wanted to portray the female state of mind and problem solving techniques from the point of view of our female lead character which is the reason why co-writing this script was imperative. Ranghild and me we work together for weeks to assemble a piece we both felt comfortable with which would accurately represent the path some women have to go through in order to over come their own fears and find themselves free of oppression." said Antonio Chavez Trejo.

The film who was shoot in Los Angeles, CA will see it´s world wide premier in less than a month from now at the blue coasts of the French "Riviera".
