Even if we don’t like to admit it we all have our little guilty pleasures. Those films or TV shows that we know we shouldn’t like and don’t admit to liking but secretly have an undying passion for and have to watch anytime they are on.

5 Guilty pleasures of men

1. The Rock

The Rock is a 1996 action movie about a bio-weapons expert and an ex-con breaking into Alcatraz to stop a group of rogue ex- military specialist from destroying the city of San Francisco with dirty bombs. It stars Sean Connery and Nicholas cage and is directed by Michael Bay.

To be honest this is by far a good movie but when you mix Nicholas Cage with an ex James Bond and Michael Bay you get a combination of cheesy one liners, ridiculous and over the top acting and quite frankly stunning action scenes. Even Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 paid homage to some of the action scenes in their game. All and all it’s cheesy, over the top and Ludacris marvellous even we wouldn’t like to admit it.

2. Storage Hunters

Who doesn’t love to see silly Americans fight over old and probably worthless things that have been locked away in a storage unit for god knows how long and pay an extortionate amount of money for them? This show has all that and a little extra. Mix it with a cheesy opening sequence you’re in for one hell of a good time and a feeling of guilt because you aren’t doing something productive with your time.

3. The Jeremy Kyle Show

Whoever came up with the idea of rounding up Britain’s biggest idiots and scumbags to talk about their problems on national television is an absolute genius and quite possibly has a screw loose. Jeremy Kyle has given us some classic moments over the past few years and is a must watch on your day off work or when you’re sick in the middle of the day because let’s face it daytime television is just awful. You love the show but you’ll never admit it.

4. Stardust

Stardust is a 2007 family adventure film about a young man who lives in a sleepy town bordering a magical land and after a falling star crashes on earth and turns into a beautiful woman he sets on an adventure to save her life from evil witches. The film stars Charlie Cox and Claire Danes and is directed by Matthew Vaughn.

I’m not normally a fan of family movies but this movie is just fabulous. Even though its corny and very mushy at some parts which I’ll admit I got kind of emotional during, the special effects are just breath-taking and boasts an all-star cast. I mean where else are you going to find Robert De Niro playing a cross dressing sky pirate? And of course possibly the cheesiest Take That song is on the sound track…which I love doing drunk karaoke to. Even if you won’t admit loving it I know you secretly have a DVD of it around the house somewhere.

5. WWE

I think at one point in time every lad was obsessed with professional wrestling and I know I was. Its faker than Iggy Azalea’s bum and the acting is god awful but is has given us some spectacular and jaw dropping moments. Quite like Iggy Azalea’s bum. I mean who doesn’t remember when the Undertaker threw Mankind off of a sixteen foot cage on to a table and the lunatic got back up smiling and kept fighting. It has given us some great characters over the years and Jim ross’s immortal commentary. I’m not too proud to say it but I still love it right now even though they don’t make it like they used to.

What are your guilty pleasures?
