When we decide to welcome a dog as part of our family, it is love at first sight. In a few days we develop feelings of attachment and care for that puppy that happens to depend on us, the tail moves us to see us and follows us at every step. Suddenly, we feel accompanied, confident, happy and with a great need to care, protect and consent.

Do you know the incredible benefits of having a dog for your physical and emotional health?

It is at that moment when the phrase that says that the dog is the best friend of man, to know the value of an unconditional friendship is made sense. The days of loneliness disappear, the presence of our furry manages to calm our anxiety and it is enough to have it to our side to obtain the calm. It is as if, somehow, we feel closer to happiness.

As assured by the psychologist and dog trainer Catalina González - founder of Perros de Casa, a company with 13 years of experience offering services for pets - we become better human beings.

"Just look at how people who own dogs in a park are related. The animal becomes an excuse to approach the other, generate a conversation and tell stories. Dogs are a reason to talk to someone unknown and generate a relationship, "explains the expert.

Goodbye to depression

According to the expert, some studies show that having a dog helps humans to better relate to their environment and to better deal with difficult situations such as loss of a loved one, depression, stress and even major physical illnesses.

"Physiologically speaking, being in contact with a dog segregates dopamine in the brain, that hormone that makes us feel happy. Having a pet gives us a feeling of pleasure that feeds the body and spirit, "he says.

Having a dog makes you happier

Research from the University of Miami concluded that people with dogs are happier and less likely to suffer from depressive conditions. The report says that the protection and confidence that our pets give us daily block feelings of loneliness and isolation.

It is so beneficial to have a dog company in difficult times, that in some health centers around the world patients are allowed to stay with their pets as part of their healing and recovery process.

Support for the family

When we adopt a furry as part of our family, we are somehow bringing emotional support to our children and to ourselves. Dogs are beings that will always be there for you, regardless of the circumstances, and their joy makes you forget the worries and problems.

According to psychologist Catalina González, they teach children about care and respect for each other.

Health benefits

According to data from the American Heart Association, one of the effects of contact with these animals is that they can reduce people's heart rate and blood pressure to such an extent that, because of the release of stress, there is less risk of heart attacks and coronary heart disease.

In addition, having a pet at home forces you to take it for a walk, to be outdoors and, therefore, to increase your physical activity days. It has been established that people who have a dog become more resistant to disease and less prone to allergies, being constantly exposed to the germs of their furry.
