Diabetes is a common disease that can lead to devastating and life-threatening consequences if you fail to adjust your life and habits accordingly.

9 alarming signs of diabetes, you should never ignore these

Diabetes means that the sugar content in your blood is too high — you therefore have to rely on insulin to not fall sick as your body cannot handle the high blood sugar levels on its own.

Many suffer from diabetes later in life because of diminished health or old age.

However, if you discover diabetes in time, you can avoid unpleasant consequences.

Here are seven signs to keep an eye on which could indicate that you might be suffering from diabetes.

1. Urinating often

One of the most common symptoms of diabetes is peeing frequently.

Since the body wants to get rid of excess sugar in the blood, the kidneys have a lot to work with. If the kidneys are overworked, the body wants to literally pee the sugar out.

2. Blurred vision

Since Diabetes leaves you dehydrated, you lose a lot of fluid as a diabetic and that includes fluid from your eyes. When the lenses in your eyes are dry, your vision will get worse and unless you do anything about it, you can risk losing your eyesight completely.

3. You get infections easily, and they take a long time to heal.

Since your body is working so hard to handle excess sugar levels, less energy is spent on healing wounds and infections. Infections on the skin or irritation between the legs is common for those suffering from diabetes.

4. Extreme hunger

In the early stages of diabetes, it is common for the person affected to feel extremely hungry. This is because the person doesn't know how to control their blood sugar levels. Your appetite can therefore be like rollercoaster ride.

5. You are often very thirsty

If you constantly feel thirsty or have trouble quenching your thirst, this could be a sign of diabetes.

The more you drink, the more you pee. If this constant thirst is prolonged, it could mean it is not a temporary issue — it could be a sign of extreme dehydration.

6. Inexplicable weight loss

When the body works hard and eliminates a lot of fluid, it often results in weight loss. If this happens by itself without any clear reason, it could be a sign of diabetes.

7. You feel extremely tired and exhausted

Regular fatigue and exhaustion despite sleeping properly sleep is common in diabetics. This is because blood sugar levels are unbalanced.

8.Tickling sensations or numbness in hands and feet

If you feel numbness or a tingling feeling in your feet, arms or hands quite often, you should definitely get checked for diabetes.

However, it is possible you still can have diabetes without having these symptoms, as only 60-70% of diabetics experience this.

9. Breath smells like nail polish remover

Diabetes affects your breath; another sign of diabetics is said to be when your breath has a chemical-like scent to it. Ask someone close to you to smell your breath for you if you suspect you have diabetes.
