An iPad once owned by Pope Francis sold for $30,500 at a charity auction in Uruguay on Tuesday, according to a new report.

Pope Francis' iPad reportedly sold for $30,500 at charity auction

Reuters reported that Francis gave the iPad to Uruguayan priest Gonzalo Aemilius, who donated it to the Francisco de Paysandu high school, located 230 miles north of capital Montevideo. The school tried to auction it off on several occasions, and finally succeeded through local auction house Castells.

The identity of the winning bidder, who placed the bid via telephone, was not revealed.

The iPad bears the inscription "His Holiness Francisco. Servizio Internet Vatican, March 2013." The auction item also included a Logitech keyboard and a certificate signed by Francis' personal secretary, Fabian Pedacchio Leaniz.

This isn't the first time Francis has donated his personal items to charity. Last year, he auctioned off his Harley Davidson Dyna Super Glide motorcycle for €241,500 (around $256,500).
