Police in New Delhi arrested a teenager on Wednesday accused of cutting the throat of a seven-year-old schoolmate in the hope that the drama would force him to postpone the exams.

Teenager would have killed his partner to postpone the exam

The homicide of which the 16-year-old boy is suspected was recorded last September at a private school near New Delhi.

After the murder, the police initially arrested a bus driver claiming that he had killed the child trying to sexually abuse him, however the investigations took a turn and now point to having elements against a "low school adolescent" whose motive was to postpone an examination and an impending parent-teacher meeting. "

"During the interrogation he wanted to have the school closed to postpone the exams and the meeting," said R K Gaur, a spokesman for the Central Bureau of Investigation.

The teenager, who can not be identified for legal reasons, was sent to a juvenile detention center awaiting trial. The bus driver remains detained until he is free from suspicion, Gaur added.
