Irma, the storm that became a Category 5 hurricane, left losses and destruction after its passage through Antigua and Barbuda, also in the Antilles, where it destroyed the four solidest buildings of San Martin, according to the French Minister for the Interior, Gerard Collomb.
The monstrous Hurricane Irma left one dead and "total devastation" in Barbuda, the Caribbean island's premier Gaston Browne said after receiving the impact Wednesday afternoon.
"It's a total devastation, Barbuda is literally a rubble," Browne told local media. Emergency management office spokesman Midcie Francis added in a statement that one person died and the damage is extensive.
"Absolutely devastating. I've never seen as much destruction as I saw in Barbuda this afternoon, "the prime minister told CNN after flying over the island. "Ninety-five percent of the properties are damaged."
The premier added that even the airport is damaged and at the moment can only be accessed by helicopter.
Browne detailed that a woman was taking her son from a destroyed property to a safer place, but in the process the child suffered a deadly wound.
The second confirmed victim after the passage of the phenomenon climatological was the surfer Zander Venezia, born in Barbados.
It is important to add that there are still no confirmed images of Irma's catastrophic outcome in her passage through Barbuda, beyond what the prime minister described, because the island spent more than 13 hours without any communication.
On the other hand, in Puerto Rico, during its journey towards the west, it caused destruction, damages to infrastructures and to the communications of the country.
According to the latest report from the National Hurricane Center (CNH), Irma's career is now headed toward the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Cuba, The Bahamas, and southern Florida over the next few days.
Heavy rains, floods, landslides, and waves of six and nine feet in height are what Irma will cause near the Leeward Islands in the Lesser Antilles.
