Inflation in Germany has been very little in the last decades.
ccording to the Federal Office of Statistics (Statistisches Bundesamt) inflation rose over 2% to 2.2% for the first time which is above the limit of less than 2% that the European Central Bank (EZB) officially "allows".
The two main factors in this are the rise of energy prices (+40%) and of vegetables with over +20%.
Even though these calculations are based on disputed factors it is clear that this is a new development in a country where the fear of deflation (things getting cheaper and cheaper) often was greater than that of inflation.
