If avocados weren’t already healthy enough – not to mention insanely trendy in the food world – they’ve just got even better.

Why We Should All Be Eating The Seeds In Avocados

According to health nuts, instead of carefully scraping out the soft green bit and chucking it on your salad you should eat the seed in the centre of the fruit, too.

Sounds bizarre (not to mention a recipe for a cracked tooth), but chowing down on the avocado stone is apparently really good for you.

The health experts at One Green Planet say it’s the part of the fruit that contains the most goodness and we shouldn’t all be throwing it away. It’s bursting with antioxidants – more than in the majority of fruit and veg, in fact.

That’s not all. It’s also teeming with more soluble fibre than oats and most other foods and is so good for us that it makes up 70 per cent of the nutritional benefit of the entire avocado. And we thought the avocado obsession had reached its peak.

But anyone who’s ever gobbled up an avocado will know that the seed in the centre is rock solid. So how exactly are we supposed to eat it without breaking all of our teeth? Plus, word on the street is it tastes NASTY so mixing it with other flavours is a must.

The easiest (and nicest tasting) way to eat it is by cutting it up and grinding it into a powder to add to your morning smoothie. Chuck in a load of other strong tasting foods, to counteract the bitter taste of the stone and you’ll find yourself a whole lot healthier in no time.
